Rawson Lake
Kananaskis Country
So for my first official Saturday off from weddinging I joined some amazingly inspirational people for a jaunt up to Rawson Lake in Kananaskis Country. The morning started with the most glorious sunrise of all time turning the peaks a fiery orange – and just to top it off a rainbow formed infront of them. I was much too enamoured with the view to pull out my real camera, so instead I used my phone. Photomographs here. As we drove deeper into the mountains the sun turned to cloud, which turned to rain. As we started our way up the short hike the weather came in waves of cool rain and magical patches of light. Before predictably relapsing back into rain.
When we reached Rawson Lake the clouds hung ominously over the ridge. The stillness of the water randomly staccatoed by drops of rain and the odd gust of wind. Some were adventurous enough to scramble up the ridges. Others of us (hello) were content to summit (word used very lightly) the rock piles that border the lake. The silence only pierced by falling rocks from misplaced steps and the shrill call of the pika (and perhaps my shrill squeak of delight whenever one of the creatures showed itself).
Some photos when my heart desired to take out my real camera.
