Camera Obscura
Montana
What happens when you have two photographers and extra time on one’s hands? A camera obscura naturally.
A camera obscura is a method of projecting a ‘living’ image of the outdoors on the walls of an enclosed space. All that was needed was two moving boxes, black duct tape, and some garbage bags. As you can see I was of very little help but a camera obscura was built – albeit very difficult to discern when projected on wooden walls but totally worth the effort. I pity the Canadian customs officer – with all of two unused boxes to declare (that were quite obvious in my backseat) and the question as to why we would have such boxes I had to give a rambling three sentence response as to what a camera obscura was. This was followed by a hasty nod, some generic questions and a wave on. I do believe he may have been perplexed.
The making of a camera obscura. Enjoy.
