Beginnings

Right. Here it is. A starting point.

I should first state a disclaimer. I am a horrible writer – horrible hardly begins to describe it really. Atrocious, unbearable, ghastly. My writing resembles my articulation skills. I’ve been said to be fluent in Brit-ish and only partially fluent in English.  So if you are reading this and wondering if it is just you who can not thoroughly understand a word, a sentence, or the entirety of a post do not fret as I can assure you you have at least some company.

So, here begins my personal blog. A place to document my travels, growth, musings, photographs, visions, perspectives, hopes, and reflections.  A public post-it-note board for my family and friends and any other individuals who find themselves here.

I suppose a sampling of who I am may be a place to start. My mother is all too familiar with these traits and my friends will likely nod upon reading these (or shake their heads knowing full-well the randomosity), so this is largely for the internet meanderers.

I am not musically gifted. I can hardly draw a stick figure. I have an irrational fear of bees. I kind of love spiders and other creepy crawlers. I pronounce many words oddly. I adore soundtracks. I hate socks. I go up the stairs by two. I enjoy people watching. I really like ketchup. I say ‘eh’ (a lot). My wrists are double jointed.  I am horrible at debate. I enjoy math but can’t apply it (ie. physics). I am a pessimistic optimist. I collect old cameras.  I adore accents.  Driving is my favourite pastime. I prefer short walks on the beach. I am functional on two hours of sleep. I talk with my hands far too much. I take great delight in nerding.

So much delight in fact some of you (although don’t worry. You don’t need to reveal yourselves. Your secret is safe with me) may have already pointed at the screen, sighed, and followed this by a facepalm. I applaud you if you did one or all three of these after spotting a particular something.

Now that familiarities are out of the way let me first say that the coming year holds so much potential. I am in the final throws of completing my Biomedical Sciences degree at the University of Calgary.  My plans beyond this? Travel, photograph amazing couples’ weddings, travel, photograph more people, do a combination of both and grow more for and within myself. For the past nineteen Septembers I have started another school year. I am so thankful for my education and the opportunities it has afforded me but I am ready to take a more independent discovery route (at least for a short while). December and beyond my calendar is empty. Not a scratch. It’s the life version of tabula rasa. Needless to say I am both thrilled and terrified.

So, here I am, embarking as a wandering homebody on my future endeavours.

Enjoy.
